Although the domestic US citrus season is still in full swing, Seven Seas Fruit is already looking forward to its 2023 spring South African season. For 20 plus years Seven Seas has proven itself successful importing the Big 5 labeled South African citrus into the U.S. The Big 5 label pays tribute to the five most famous species of animals in Africa, hinting at Seven Sea’s roots in South Africa. The country’s citrus season will kick off with soft citrus varieties in April, followed by grapefruit, lemons, and navel oranges. The season will cap off with the with Valencia varieties being shipped until October.

A significant portion of Seven Seas’ South African fruit is shipped to the United States. “That’s where we are headquartered and operate as part of the Tom Lange Family of Companies which provides Seven Seas with a tremendous access advantage,” says Greg Thorne, Seven Seas CFO.  In addition, the company ships citrus from South Africa to Europe, the Middle and Far East, as well as other countries on the African continent.”
