Peruvian blueberry exporters looking for new markets

Although the bulk of the production rises during the months of October and November, the harvest of the early varieties has begun in Peru. These will be exported to niche or non-traditional markets such as Israel, Indonesia, Norway, Iceland, Russia and Lithuania.The process by which a blueberry travel from a field to the other side of the world occurs in less than 48 hours. A producer can harvest in the morning, pack in the afternoon and cool down the fruit that same night. During the early morning of the next day you will travel by truck to the airport, fly and arrive at your destination, be it the United States, Israel or Europe. Another part of the harvest will leave by sea, the journey of which will take between 17 and 25 days, depending on the destination​.

Peru took advantage of the increase in global consumption and assigned expansionary policies in its economy, consolidating free trade agreements with the Pacific and applying flexible labor laws that allowed increasing investment and the development of a sector that offered a clear opportunity.
