Sparta, Michigan.-based Applewood Fresh LLC is ramping up production on the Rave apple variety in Michigan, which will allow the company to service more Midwest customers, said Brian Coates, vice president of sales and business development.

“We have planted more Rave acreage in northern Michigan that will come into production in the next couple of years,” he said.

The company also will have its first year of production on the Ambrosia variety this season, he said. Volume is expected to increase in coming years.

“The SweeTango crop looks to be a very good one this year,” Coates added. “Volume will be the largest crop we have had so far in Michigan.”
